March 4, 2011 - The Triad is proving itself to be a hot spot for substantial solar projects, due in part to its location, climate and mix of metropolitan and rural landscapes. Davidson County’s solar farm is the largest in the state, taking advantage of orientation and available rural land. While some projects are out of sight on rooftops of massive industrial buildings, a project at the N.C. Zoo is on display, even shielding picnickers from the sun while they’re educated on solar’s benefits. Following are snapshots of several solar farms located across the Triad. {continued}
