Green Brings Bottom Line Savings!

Greener buildings better for bottom line
Sep 29, 2011 - The effort companies put into constructing energy-efficient buildings is paying off.

A voluntary survey following 51 certified buildings throughout Illinois over multiple years revealed that energy-conserving additions in designing and construction reduced long-term energy costs for more than half of the participants.

“The question that we wanted to answer was whether the time and money which companies put into constructing LEED-certified buildings are really worth it,” said Kathryn Eggers, the program coordinator for CNT energy.

CNT Energy, part of a research-based organization promoting urban sustainability, conducted the survey with the Illinois chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council for the past four years. The national council implements the certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), criteria required by greener buildings.
