Sep. 29, 2011 - In Jürgen Craig-Müllen’s native Germany, saving energy and being environmentally conscious isn’t a conservative or a liberal issue; it’s a national goal.
The European country leads the world in solar energy production despite its northern latitude and frequently cloudy skies.
So Craig-Müllen, who immigrated to the United States in 1989, acknowledges it could be his German heritage prompting him to install the solar photovoltaic panels that cover his house and garage, producing enough electricity for his family and some extra to sell back to the power grid.
Jürgen and Julia Craig-Müllen’s 18-year-old home on Meadowrose Boulevard is the only St. Cloud stop on this year’s Minnesota Solar Tour on Saturday. The self-guided tour, sponsored by the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society, features about 50 homes, businesses and institutions that have incorporated renewable energy such as wind, solar or geothermal into their design and operation. read more>>>
