Launching a Smart-Grid Lab

Duke Energy, Dutch firm launch smart-grid lab


February 1, 2011 - Duke Energy will work with Dutch energy technology consultant KEMA to develop testing and certification programs for interactive operation of smart-grid devices.

The joint project, called the Smart Grid Interop Lab, will certify that smart-grid product and services work together, perform properly and meet current and emerging standards.

As part of the collaboration, KEMA will provide testing programs at the Duke Energy Envision Center in Erlanger, Ky. The lab will be designed to operate in several locations. Initially it will work out of the Duke site and KEMA’s Powertest Lab in Chalfont, Pa. {continued}
