Oct. 9, 2012 - Copenhagen is a global leader in green growth, according to the first in a series of OECD reports detailing the capacity of different regions to create jobs and move toward a green economy. The OECD will present the report’s conclusions and recommendations at the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF), currently being held in Copenhagen.
The OECD has identified Copenhagen as a global leader when it comes to creating growth and jobs related to the green economy. The 34-country organisation underlined the fact that companies in the Greater Copenhagen area saw their export of green services and products rise 55 per cent between 2004 and 2009 and that almost a third of cleantech business in the region saw exports rise between 2010 and 2011. Only four per cent experienced a fall.
This success is the result of ambitious climate policy, an innovative approach to co-operation between the public and private sectors, as well the creation of a regional cleantech cluster, according to the OECD.
“The OECD’s conclusions highlight Copenhagen’s ability to create green growth and jobs as part of our goal to make Copenhagen one of the world’s greenest cities. read more>>>
