State to lose specialist in renewable energy

07/10/2011 - Former governor Bill Richardson believed the sun and wind could create more than electricity.

He thought they were good sources of jobs.

Richardson's idea was that renewable energy projects could and should create jobs. So his administration in 2008 hired an environmental specialist and placed him in the state Economic Development Department with a mission to create jobs.

She said his departure did not signal a change in the philosophy that renewable energy projects can be a generator of jobs.

Miller held many titles and responsibilities during his nearly three years with the Economic Development Department.

He initially was called the "green economy manager." Richardson, a Democrat, even signed an executive order creating the Green Jobs Cabinet. read more>>>
