I wasn't a big fan of Duke not too long ago. But when the collapse was coming, and in construction it started hitting long before the residential mortgage collapse, Duke seemed to recognize or they had already started changing their own business model, they started slowly into alternatives. One of the extremely few who actually followed the con given by them all reagan capitalists they started investing in solar and wind and continue to do so, saying they will be closing down coal fired plants as the time comes.
September 5, 2012 - Rogers hints that an all but exclusive focus on building new centralized power plants is not necessarily the way forward, and in fact Duke Energy has been one of the early promoters of distributed solar power.

They are doing what the corporations are supposed to be doing, investing back into economic growth, and in alternatives breaking the chains that have locked the growth we started and it was stopped some forty years back. Not as to only climate change but it's what we once did in innovative industries and startups in and were once envied for!
