Due to the overwhelming success of the initial spring summit, Infocast will be running the 2nd Defense Renewable Energy and Military Microgrids Summit in Fall. The summit will be taking place in the Washington, D.C. area on November 28-30, 2012 with specific venue details to be announced soon.
The Department of Defense, the biggest single energy user in the U.S., must source 25% of its power from renewable energy by 2025. The new EITF program has begun issuing RFPs to source 2 GW of power ranging from rooftop solar to utility scale projects for Army and Air Force facilities, which is expected to exceed $7B of public-private project investment through 2013. The Navy’s 1 GW Task Force is ramping up a similar program. These new programs will require billions of dollars in private investment and finance—making providing energy to the military the fastest growing area in the green energy field.
Infocast’s 2nd Defense Renewable Energy and Military Microgrids will gather military policy makers, program managers, renewable energy developers and financiers to explore how they can all meet each other’s needs.
