Paying for More Green Energy

Personal note: If we hadn't allowed the blockage of another industry, alternative energies, starting some forty years back the energy costs we pay today would be cheaper then what we now pay and the special interests of control. Roughly at the same time we started dismantling our other industries by shipping them and the experienced innovative trades to the countries that once envied us and our growth in many most economic area's. Add in if there was the told would happen private investments, needing no public investments which are being blocked now, in the growth from those who developed our new capitalism, not trickle down but pushed to the top, we would be leading, as we once did in many, in alternative energy needs and development of even possible new.

Study: Public willing to pay for more green energy
2012-05-14 - Legislation mandating that power companies obtain a major portion of the country’s electricity from low-carbon energy sources might face an uphill battle on Capitol Hill. But the policy has strong public support, a new study indicates.

The average American is willing to pay $162 per year in higher electricity costs if a “clean energy standard” (CES) becomes law, according to the study, which was published in the journal Nature Climate Change Sunday.

The study’s authors conducted a national survey to gauge support for a CES requiring that 80 percent of the country’s electricity come from energy sources like renewables, natural gas and nuclear power by 2035.

The CES modeled in the study is similar to the one endorsed by President Obama and included in legislation proposed by Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.). read more>>>
