14 October 2011 - Participating in the annual Global Green Growth Forum together with H.E. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, UNIDO’s Director General and UN Energy Chairman – Kandeh Yumkella said that “Green Industry and the Greening of Industries, concepts coined by UNIDO in the last few years, are helping place sustainable industrial development in the context of new global sustainability challenges. Together we can make the global transition to a green growth pathway work,”
Partnering with the South Korean government, the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) was established by the government of Denmark as a global public-private partnership for green growth. Green Industry means economies striving for a more sustainable pathway of growth, by undertaking green investments and implementing public policy initiatives that encourage environmentally responsible private investments. Greening of Industry is a method to attain sustainable economic growth and promote sustainable economies. It includes policymaking, improved industrial production processes and resource-efficient productivity.
The high-level public-private partnership which is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark is hosting about 200 global leaders who come from government, finance and civil society as well as business to jointly foster the conditions necessary to encourage green growth and design the architecture needed for a green economy. read more>>>
