October 28, 2011 - Representatives from Canada's clean technology industry gathered in downtown Ottawa on Thursday to make noise about the impact their fledgling industry could have on the Canadian economy and to criticize a lack of government incentives and involvement to help get their businesses off the ground.
Jamie James, founder of Tower Labs and an expert in green commercial construction, said the world has been talking about constructing more environmentally friendly buildings for the better part of three decades, yet little has been done to push the construction industry to think green.
He pointed to a magazine cover from 1973 showing solar panels on a rooftop - a technology that still is not a common sight.
"Here we are in the 21st century. Where is the green economy? Where are the green buildings?" asked James. "Each building we create today with inefficient technologies will cost us a whole lot more in the future." read more>>>
