24 May 2011 - Electronics giant Toshiba has entered into a $36.7m agreement with Korean wind power equipment manufacturer Unison, signaling its entry into the sector.
The strategic alliance will see Toshiba co-develop and market wind power generators.
Under the memorandum of understanding, Toshiba will subscribe to a $36.7m convertible bond that Unison will issue after receiving the appropriate approvals.
Toshiba described Unison as Korea’s longest established wind power equipment manufacturer, and also deploys direct drive turbines. It has a 1GW annual production capacity. {continued}
