May 18, 2011 - To advance a green economy, the world must fundamentally change the way it produces and consumes raw materials, a UNIDO official said from Russia.
Director General of the U.N. Industrial Development Organization Kandeh Yumkella told an ecological conference in St. Petersburg that consumption patterns must change to "green" world economies.
"We need a fundamental change in how we produce, consume and exchange goods," he said in a statement. "This is how we can green our economies, our growth strategies and our industries, creating new green jobs, stimulating green investments and encouraging green innovations." {continued}
