Solar Map
NYC, via its partnership with Sustainable CUNY, has gathered Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data that will be used to create a NYC Solar Map with detailed information on building rooftops, footprints, and tree shading. The map will be developed by the Center for Advanced Research of Spatial Information (CARSI) at CUNY’s Hunter College with data collected in April of 2010 by Sanborn Map Company. The Solar Map will be an online interactive tool that can estimate the solar potential for every building in the city and will be hosted here on the Sustainable CUNY website in 2011. {continued}
