China Calls for Promotion of Green Economy


22 March 2011 - Jia Qinglin, China's top political advisor, urged Hainan, the country's tourism island, to vigorously promote a green economy and pursue low-carbon development.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, made the remarks during his inspection tour of China's southernmost island province of Hainan from last Thursday to Tuesday.

During the tour, Jia visited some cities and counties, economic zones, scenic spots, ethnic villages, factories and agricultural planting bases to exchange views with local officials and civilians on the scientific development of the island. {continued}
