2/3/2011 - Duke Energy has been focusing on many green initiatives. Recently, it entered into an agreement with ENN Group, a China based clean energy solutions provider, to develop technologies that could help in building green cities in the US and China. The companies plan to use a clean energy power generation infrastructure for the eco-cities that they plan to construct. Through this partnership, the companies are looking to speed up the formulation of low carbon discharging clean energy technologies. In addition to this, earlier in October 2009, the companies had entered into an agreement to develop commercial level solar projects in the US. Another green initiative of Duke Energy is the development of a 17.2 MW solar farm in partnership with Sun Edison, the final phase of which was recently activated. The solar farm is constructed with over 63,000 solar photovoltaic panels that are estimated to produce about 28 million kWh per year, equivalent to the annual power demands of over 2,600 families. It is spread over 200 acres in Davidson County, North Carolina.. {continued}
