I've caught a couple of articles, the last few days, on this plant closing. It should be expanding, not shutting it's doors!
If there continues to be no trickle down of the con of ronnynomics and people fight, forcing it to happen, against Government funding investments then we will continue going backwards while others advance and more, not less, of these will continue!
January 13th, 2011 - The sun has set on a solar power plant about 35 miles northwest of Boston.
Evergreen Solar Inc. has announced that it will shut down its manufacturing facility at an old army base in Devens, Mass. The shutdown will occur before the end of the first quarter 2011. Evergreen cited an inability to remain competitive against international solar panel producers.
“Although production costs at our Devens facility have steadily decreased, and are now below originally planned levels and lower than most western manufacturers, they are still much higher than those of our low cost competitors in China,” said Michael El-Hillow, President and Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen, via a press release. {continued}
