Qualified individuals can receive free college training leading to a credential in environmental technology through the Chesapeake Area Consortium for Higher Education ( CACHE ) Institute for Environmental Careers.
CACHE has approved curriculum for environmental technology courses that will qualify for a Letter of Recognition or Certificate through consortium-member community colleges: Anne Arundel Community College, Chesapeake College, College of Southern Maryland and Wor-Wic Community College. Thanks to a federal grant recently awarded to the State of Maryland, these courses are tuition-free for qualified participants now through fall 2012. Each community college has complementary curricula classes, some online, that have been approved as credits counting toward requirements for a Letter of Recognition or Certificate in environmental technology.
The Participant Application Process includes enrollment in the Maryland Workforce Exchange online: www.mwejobs.com; application to the community college ( online or in person ); completion of a college placement test in English, reading and math assessment; and meeting with the Green Navigator at the One-Stop Career Center for grant eligibility screening. {continued}
