The future's green for construction

New federal building code will revolutionise UAE buildings and make them eco-friendly


November 30, 2010 - A new federal building code will literally change the face of UAE cities by limiting the amount of glass on facades to no more than 60 per cent. This new green building code is due to take effect in 2014 and any new structures planned will have to meet its tough environmentally-friendly standards.

Technology is ever evolving. So too must construction standards, ensuring every building erected after 2014 is as green as possible. Water use needs to be limited. Glass and aluminium facades need to be energy-friendly. And proper insulation standards will help regulate temperatures, preventing the excessive use of energy. {read rest}
