As long as these commercial enterprises pass the energy savings onto the workers within, thus helping grow the economy especially in the local communities, and the consumers who use their products!
October 22, 2010 - When you buy that next pack of Huggies to keep your baby’s bottom dry, a box of Kleenex or other paper products manufactured by Kimberly-Clark Corp., it’s good to know you are buying from a company that supports renewable energy.
If you have driven by Kimberly Clark’s local Berkeley Mill recently, you have probably seen the array of solar panels outside the plant, capturing solar radiation to convert to electricity. The company partnered with Duke Energy to place the 361 ground-mounted solar panels on 10,000 square feet of the mill property.
The Hendersonville plant is one of 18 sites across North Carolina participating in Duke’s $50 million distributed solar program. The utility is installing solar panels on the rooftops and grounds of homes, schools, office buildings, shopping centers, warehouses and industrial plants. Eventually high-tech installations will produce 10 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 1,300 homes. {read rest}
