Cost-Savings on Solar Initiative

Duke Energy seeing cost-savings on solar initiative



October 28, 2010 - Duke Energy Carolinas’ rooftop solar initiative is turning out less costly than anticipated.

When the company won state regulatory approval for the pilot program in late 2008, it estimated its price at $50 million. Duke now pegs the cost at about $42 million.

The program is installing 10 megawatts of solar panels on the property of customers throughout its service area. Construction is nearly 95% complete. {read rest}
