October 19, 2012 - Duke Energy Corp.’s renewable-energy subsidiary is building a 12.5-megawatt, $40 million solar farm in eastern North Carolina that could double in size. With that expansion, it would be the state’s largest solar-power site.
Duke Energy Renewables spokesman Tammie McGee says the project is designed to scale up to 25 megawatts of capacity. That would top the 20-megawatt solar farms Apple Inc. is building for its data center near Maiden.
The Duke project is being built on 85 acres near the city of Bath, and Duke already plans to install a 25-megawatt interconnection system to put the power on the grid. ... read more>>>{subscription required}
