Copenhagen Ranked No.1 Green City

Copenhagen ranked No.1 green city in the world
20 September 2012 - Copenhagen is renowned as one of the most environmentally friendly capital cities in the world but a new survey now shows that Copenhagen is also a world leader in terms of its green economy. The 2012 Global Green Economy Index (GGEI), which measures green city reputations, ranks Copenhagen as the world's leading green city.

The GGEI's global survey, conducted by international consultants, Dual Citizen Inc., ranks perceptions of green performance in the main cities of 27 nations.

The survey underlines Copenhagen's ongoing and extensive efforts towards improving its environmental sustainability. Despite increased and stringent requirements for achieving a Danish Green Key certification, a record breaking 64% of all hotel rooms in the city now hold official eco-certificates.
