19 June 2012 - A UK-based inventor who came up with a novel solution that allows gardening enthusiasts to grow plants and vegetables while generating electricity at the same time, after he was approached by a couple who could not mount a PV array on their listed building, has now started installing his solar greenhouses all across the UK.
Uckfield-based New Horizons Solar will be exhibiting the company’s unique solar greenhouses at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in Surrey (England) from 3 to 8 July after successfully launching the product last year.
“We are exhibiting at RHS Hampton court because it is the perfect showcase for the Solar PV Greenhouse. The show is important because we believe this new product is ideal for gardeners and the type of eco-conscious people who will be at the event,” comments Managing Director of New Horizons Solar Russell King, who developed the product.
The unique arrangement of photovoltaic panels on the Solar PV Greenhouse, which is made of beautiful cedar wood, is capable of generating 70 per cent of the average household’s electricity needs while providing a perfect environment for growing plants.
