April 22, 2011 - Strata Solar of Chapel Hill plans to build a 4.5-megawatt solar project in Kings Mountain that will begin operating by the end of the year.
The company plans to sell the power to Duke Energy Carolinas. Michael Cohen of Strata says no power-purchase agreement has been signed as yet. Strata is negotiating for a 10- to 15-year contract to sell the power to Duke.
The project is expected to cost $21.9 million to build. It consist of 21,672 solar panels, ground-mounted, on 28 acres off Dixon Dairy Road. {continued}
